Spring Week 2
The start of my second week started with the town's mayor's son at my stoop. Alvin was hungover and needed a cure before that afternoon. His dad was throwing a charity ball and would kill him if he showed up hungover.
Hangover - [Poison *] [Stomach*] Timer 4
After a rowdy night of reckless abandon, the afflicted has crawled to you with a stomach full of poison, a mouth like a desert, and a head as fragile as a sparrow's egg.
Consequence: They get better and go off grumbling. Lose 1 Reputation
I left Alvin on my couch with a wet cloth on his forehead and some water. I headed to Hero's Hollow dungeon to find some Crow Coal.
Crow Coal ** - Magic - Dungeon 7
A favorite among corvids who have eaten something foul, Crow Coal is a silvery coal that neutralizes most ingested poisons. Getting it from the crows that guard it isn't easy.
Coal can be Crushed for [Dehydration], [Stomach], & [Poison]
The Hero Hollow is great & sad all at the same time, but I don't have time to enjoy the view. My first forage attempt did not bring me any Crow Coal but an ancient looking locket. I slipped it in my bag to look at it later.
I followed some crows into an odd room. Consulting the journal I determine this is the puzzle room of the dungeon. Also it does not match the witch's solutions. Fortunately it looked fairly simple. The door on the opposite side is purple. There were four shelves on the wall. Each shelf hold a small spoon with colored liquid inside. The colors are red, yellow, blue and green. The hardest part was not spilling any off the spoon while in movement. Adding the red and blue liquids into the small cup where the lock normally is on the door. Right through the door I see a crow's nest with Crow Coal inside. Taking a deep breathe to steady myself, I sprint at the nest. I grab the coal and turn on my heel. Trying to protect my face from the attacking crows, I run out of the dungeon and all the way to the house.
At the house Alvin is still wearily lying on the couch. I rewet his forehead cloth, then started the potion. It doesn't taste great, but it works wonders on a hangover and is easy to make

Alvin grumbled at the taste, but looked very relieved. He paid me 20 silvers and begged me not to tell his father. I promised to not mention it if I met him. With the he rushed home to freshen up before his father's ball.
After meeting Alvin, I decided to explore the village and meet some other villagers. Wondering through the village was an adventure in sounds and sights. People seemed mostly jovial and never in a rush. It was all a bit overwhelming, I sat on the edge of a fountain to collect myself. A man with a wooden leg joined me. He introduced himself as Ravik. He's the tavern owner that caters mostly to adventurers called The Copper Fox Tavern. He had received word from an old friend on the Council that I was the replacement witch. He wanted to make sure I knew I could stop by the tavern any time and there'd be an adventurer up for a small quest for a small fee. I thanked him. I'd probably take him up on that eventually. I've seen some startling things out there this last couple weeks.
As I was saying goodbye to Ravik, a voice hailed us both. Callem had just returned from a hike in the Grove. He had found some Songberries and gave me some. I thanked him and we discussed what we was planning on doing next. We parted ways after a bit, they went off to the tavern and I went off to explore more of the village.
Songberries *
Unique to Glimmerwood, these special berries can be found by listening for singing fairies that flock to them. Good in jam and a staple of High Rannoc cakes.

After I was finished exploring the market, a postal harpy swooped down. It accessed me before dropping a parcel in my hands. I think the harpy found me lacking. Trying to put that out of mind, I examined the package it left me. It didn't have any protections on it. I was excited to discover my father had sent it. His letter explained that he missed me, so he made my favorite blueberry bread and sent it to me. He expects me to write often to help ease his empty nest syndrome. With me gone and my younger sister now moved out, he had too much time on his hands. I'll have to send him a letter later thanking him for the bread and suggest some hobbies.
Dad's letter left me feeling a little lonely and exploring the village left me feeling lost. I decided I needed someone by my side to help make sense of the world and explore it with me. I decided to head to Glimmerwood Grove. Along the way I gather any flowers and stones that call to me. I ended up mostly with purple flowers and white stones. I found a glade that had foliage overhead, but still let in enough sunlight to illuminate the glade just enough. After I made a circle with the flowers and stones, I sat in the circle. I started meditating, focusing on my magic and soul, letting them soak into the circle. When I started to hear a musical voice I called out to it. I opened my eyes to see a beautiful purple and white dragon in front of my. They grinned then started to glow. When the glowing dissipated they were the size of a house cat. They introduced themselves as Larkspur and they'll be by my side from here on out. As I recall my magic and soul, Larkspur wrapped themselves around my neck. We headed to the house and spent the rest of the week setting up a room for Larkspur.
